Mzalia
Basenjis are proud to announce the safe arrival of Debbie's 2004 litter, sired by
the handsome young dog Tocayo Giambi.
On 30th May, Debbie produced 5 pretty red and white pups
- 1 male and 4 females. The pups are happy, outgoing individuals with good coats,
nice strong heads, compact feet, and have lovely breed type.
We selected the middle name of Private for this litter for two
reasons: firstly as a play on the "saucier" aspects of their mother's
name (Private Dancer and Private Party); and secondly after some famous movie
titles (Private Benjamin, Private Ryan and Private Idaho). After all, Debbie is
the main character in a rather infamous adult movie <gg>.
These puppies have developed into beautiful adults, and have achieved some
excellent results in the Show Ring so far, with Best in Show winners
at both All Breeds and Specialty level.
Needless to say we are very proud of these kids.

(a first for the breed!)
Tina has been retained by Mzalia Basenjis.
A very sound and classically elegant girl, Tina has a superb
coat, beautifully feminine head, good tail and shelf and excellent quarters. She is a bit of a departure from the bitch pups we have
kept in the past, but it is these differences which we feel will
be an asset to our kennel in the future.
In the ring she is the epitome of femininity and elegance, and
is a beautifully fluid mover as well.
At home, Tina has been the gang-leader of the pups. Wherever there was trouble to be found, Tina would be a the centre of it all. She is a
real cheeky little minx.
Tina has made a wonderful start to her show career with a
Multiple Best
Exhibit and Runner-up in Group wins and Classes in Show. Since her first birthday, she really
blossomed, accumulating no less than 161 challenge points in just
3 over months of showing in 2005.
At Specialty Shows, Tina has a wonderful record. She was 2nd in the Intermediate Bitch Class
at the 2006 Victorian Specialty, 4th in the Baby Puppy Bitch Class at
the 2004 NSW Specialty Show, and won the ultimate prize of BEST IN SHOW
at the 2007 Basenji Club of Victoria Specialty under Breed Specialist Mr Glen
Dymock (Aus/UK).
All things going to plan, Tina will have her first litter in
2008.

Private Ryan (Ryan)
Fanconi DNA Linkage Tested: Probably Clear/Normal
The only boy in the litter, Ryan has been retained by Mzalia
Basenjis.
A elegant individual, Ryan is a very handsome boy with a strong
masculine head, nice tailset and a good topline. Many aspects of Ryan remind us of his father Giambi.
Whilst he does not immediately "catch your
eye" outside the ring, he undergoes a complete transformation when he
enters the ring. He has an aura of pride and nobility, which is beautifully
displayed when on the move.
Around the house, Ryan is a cheeky, basenji with a wonderful
sense of fun. He is a delight to be around.
Ryan is already a multiple Runner-up in Group, Best of Breed and Class in Group winner.
He even regularly wins over our wonderful campaigner Aus
Grand Ch Baagna Virst Legend.
Ryan is also multiple Opposite Class in Show winner, with
successes at the 2005
Basenji Club of NSW & 2006 Basenji Club of Victoria Specialties, and a
second placing in Class at the 2007 Basenji Club of Victorian Specialty. In 2005 he was
also Runner-up Best of Breed at our biggest All
Breeds Show of the Year - the Royal Adelaide Show.
We are also very proud to announce that Ryan is the 2004/2005 SA Spitz
Puppy of the Year, an award we have previously previously won with Aus
Grand Ch Baagna Virst Legend and Aus
Ch Mzalia Time Warp.
He had his first litter of pups in 2007. Click

Private Benjamin (Goldie)
#8 Basenji in Australia for 2006
#7 Basenji in Australia for 2005
(DogzOnLine Pointscore)
In each litter there is one stand-out personality, and in this
litter it was Goldie. She is a little powerhouse who does everything "flat
out".
A beautifully feminine girl with a lovely coat, tail/tail set
and top line, like her litter mates Ryan and Tina she too is a lovely mover. She also has a great attitude on the lead which makes
her a very eye-catching individual in the ring.
Goldie is named after Goldie Hawn who plays the lead role in the
film "Private Benjamin".
Goldie is owned by Stan and Eileen Laycock of Eilsta Basenjis in
Tasmania.
Down in Tasmania Goldie has taken the show scene by storm. She has made a fantastic start to her career and is a
Best in Group,
Multiple Runner-up
in Group, Class in Show, Class in Group and Best of Breed winner. She became an Australian
Champion with a Best of Breed and Class in Group win under Breed Specialist Mrs
Doreen Duffin of Makuba Basenjis in Victoria.
The highlight of her career to date, undoubtedly would have to
be her BEST EXHIBIT IN SHOW win at the Brighton Kennel Club Show in
November 2005.
Goldie is now well on her way towards becoming a Grand Champion.
We Stan and Eileen continued success with Goldie.

Private Party (Piper)
A very pretty, feminine girl, Piper is the snuggle bunny of the
litter. She just loves cuddles and to be the centre of attention. She was
always the first pup to come running up to you for a cuddle.
Initially, Piper was the quietest pup in the litter, but as she
got older she really blossomed, becoming just as much a playful ratbag as her
sisters.
Piper is a very spoiled girl and lives with another of our basenjis "Nelson" (aka Mzalia
Hidden Agenda).

Mzalia
Private Idaho (Zena)
Another very pretty girl, from birth Zena reminded us the most
of her mother Debbie, in style and general appearance and personality. She is an
outgoing, affectionate pup who loves to have fun.
Despite having a lovely coat, good body and pretty feminine
head, unfortunately Zena did not have good enough eye shape or front and rear
angulation or movement for us to consider her as a show or breeding prospect.
Zena is now the loving companion of Lyn Bermingham in Broken
Hill, where she lives with one of Helen Church's Gaelifrey boys.
