Every
once in a while, fate can drop a wonderful surprise in your lap.
Such happened to us on Saturday, 12th June 1999, when Chloe delivered her first litter of pups to our star Aus Grand Ch Baagna Virst Legend, despite having a negative pregnancy test at 4 weeks.
The two red and white pups - 1 boy and 1 girl - were also the first progeny of both of their parents.
The show results of this has certainly more than met our expectations. One of them is a Multiple All Breeds BEST IN SHOW winner and the other was a Class in Show and Specialty Property Class winner.

Aus Ch Mzalia Hidden Valley (Ishtar)
From day-1, Ishtar was a sweet affectionate youngster - but one very cocky and full of herself. She strutted around the yard and demanded your attention. "Look at me - I'm here!"
Ishtar lives with Dee Wheatley in the Northern Territory, where she is not only a very successful show dog, but also a very loved and spoiled pet. Ishtar even has a pet cat of her very own, and helped her to raise her recent litter of kittens!
Who says basenjis and cats can't get on?!
In 2004 Ishtar produced her first litter of puppies to Aus Ch Mzalia Casino Royale. From this litter Aus Ch Katimbari Wild ov Heart is a Best in Group winner and Katimbari Scarlet River was a multiple Class in group winner.
In 2006 Ishtar had her second litter of puppies to Wazazi Sheer Genius. She had 1 boy and 3 girls (all red & white), on the 19th July. Her daughter Katimbari Desert Rose has been retained by her breeder and was Opposite Minor Puppy in Show at the 2007 Basenji Club of Victoria Specialty Show.

Mzalia
Hidden Agenda (Alex/Nelson)
Alex was the real snuggle-puppy in the litter. A very handsome boy, he just loved to sit on your lap, and would spend hours there if you let him.
Originally retained by us for the show ring, he was named after Alex Krycheck, a character in the TV series "The X Files". We showed him for three months, with quite a deal of success: he won the Best Baby Puppy Red & White Coat class at the 1999 Basenji Club of New South Wales Specialty (20+ entries), won three Baby Puppy in Group and one Baby Puppy in Show awards.
But Alex didn't really enjoy the Show Ring - he loved going to the shows where he could play with all of the other dogs (of any breed), but the ring itself just wasn't for him.
Thus when an excellent home came up for him, we let him go to live with a lovely family. He has been renamed Nelson, and he lives with another of our kids in Piper (aka Mzalia Private Party).
