Introducing Goldie...
When evaluating our 2004 litter of pups produced by Tocayo Giambi and Debbie (aka Aust Ch Mzalia Texas Cheerleader), there were two very promising - and very disarmingly cute and affectionate girls, and I was delighted to be able to send Goldie to Stan and Eileen Laycock of Eilsta Basenjis in Tasmania.
Named after the Goldie Hawn's character "Private Benjamin" from the film of the same name, Goldie is very feminine girl, with a wonderful sense of fun. She is a delight to live with as she is very playful and just loves to get cuddles when strangers visit.
Goldie's Show Career started in early September 2004, and she has taken the ring by storm, with multiple Runner-up in Group and Class in Show wins on the way to becoming an Australian Champion.
Of course the highlight of her career is that wonderful Best in Show win in November 2005!
On a trip I made to Tasmania in April 2005, it was a real thrill to handle her to a nice Best of Breed win. And it was wonderful to see she still had that wonderful loving, outgoing and cheeky nature she displayed when she lived with us.
April 24 was a very special day for all concerned, as after a long break from the ring, Goldie attained the last of the point she required to become a Grand Champion - a first for both us at Mzalia, and Stan and Eileen.
Now that she has attained her title, Goldie will only come out for selected shows.
We wish Stan and Eileen continued success with Goldie and her children.
Puppies
Goldie became a mother for the first time in 2008, to Aust Ch Yysur Eyemeoff. Two of the pups from this litter have been shown. They are both Australian Champions and have been Runner-up in Group and multiple Class in Group winners.
Goldie produced a second litter of pups to Aust Ch Yysur Eyemeoff in 2010. One of her daughters from this litter - Capri - has joined us at Mzalia. Capri is a multiple Class in Show winner and her brother Wombat (Eilsta Eilov Maluka) is also a Class in Show winner
