Introducing Flame...
Our beautiful Flame is the foundation bitch of Mzalia Basenjis.
From the minute she arrived from her breeders in Tasmania, Flame proceeded to steal the hearts of everyone who has ever met her. A wonderful companion, she has a delightfully naughty nature - something which she has passed on to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Flame adores cuddles and sitting on your lap - but only after she has made a thorough sweep of the room to ensure there is no food within her reach! And if she can't find any food, she will sit and yodel until you give her a treat!
A very intelligent basenji, her native instincts are still most evident, as she is an excellent hunter. One more than one occasion I have seen her catch a bird on the wing, and over the years, it has been amazing to watch her pass these skills on to her puppies and their descendants.
Even though she is rising 12 years of age, she still regularly supplements her diet by eating birds she has caught.
Still highly active and in excellent health, it is hard to believe that Flame is the age that she is. Whilst she may be very grey around the face and muzzle, mentally and physically she is still as sharp and sound as she has ever been. She is just a wonder.

Flame also won two Dam & Progeny Classes at Breed Specialty Shows.
Show Record...
Flame had a successful show career over several years, her successes coming at both Specialty, Hound Club and All Breeds levels.
A Runner-up in Group, All Breeds and Hound Club Class in Show and Specialty Class, Opposite Class in Show and Property Class winner, the highlights of her career would be her two Specialty Reserve Challenges (one in New South Wales and one in Victoria), two Adelaide Royal Challenges, and Intermediate in Show win at the New South Wales Hound Club October Show.
Flame was semi-retired from the show ring at 5 years of age, and was fully retired at 8 years. In early 2009 she was still looking so good, we decided to enter her in the Veterans 10+ Class at the Victorian Specialty where she was placed 2nd.
