Introducing Debbie...
Darling Debbie was the only girl in the first litter from our beautiful foundation bitch Flame (aka Aust Ch Eilsta Qwyt Kutani).
A very elegant and feminine girl, she was certainly the quietest pup in the litter, but behind her sweet demeanor, hides a very naughty little minx. Butter would not melt in her mouth. If there is ever any trouble afoot, whether it be something stolen from the rubbish biun or out of a bag, you would normally find her close by.
And the more you would tell her not to do something, the more determined she would become to do it!
But you just can't stay mad at her for long when she looks up at you the way she does. Debbie certainly knows how to wrap her humans around her little paws.
She really fits the old breeder's saying of curiosity may have killed the cat, but it made the basenji more determined!
Even though she is rising 10 years of age, she is still in fantastic condition, and she hardly has a single white hair around her muzzle. The only tell-tell sign of her advancing years, is that her tail does not curl quite as much as it used to.
And if you were wondering, yes, Debbie was named after that film!

Multiple Specialty and All Breeds Class in Show winners
Show Record...
Debbie had a very successful show career at All Breeds and Specialty level, over several years.
She is a multiple Best in Group, All Breeds and Specialty Class, Opposite Class in Show and Property Class winner, she has also been a Class in Show winner at Spitz Breeds shows.
Flame was semi-retired from the show ring at 5 years of age after her second litter way born. She continued to be successfully shown at selected All Breeds and Specialty Shows, until she turned 8.
Debbie still looks remarkable for her age, with barely a white hair on her muzzle, so we decided to bring her back to the ring for the Veteran Bitch 7-10 Years Class at the Basenji Club of Victoria Specialty. And it was wonderful for her to come back with another Specialty win.
